Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

________

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is a procedure aimed at saving a tooth that is infected or badly decayed. During the procedure, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed, the inside of the roots are carefully cleaned, disinfected, and sealed. This process helps to alleviate pain and preserve the natural tooth to health and function.

Vital pulp therapy may also be offered to retain the pulp in certain cases, such as immature root formation or dental trauma. This can be done with procedures such as a direct pulp cap or pulpotomy.

Root Canal Re-Treatment

________

Root canal re-treatment is a procedure performed when a previously root canal treated tooth fails, experiences pain or undergoes infection. It involves reopening the tooth, removing the old filling material from the roots, cleaning the canals, and sealing them again. This helps save the natural tooth and alleviate any discomfort or issues that may have arisen since the initial root canal treatment.

Advanced technology such as CBCT (3D imagery), magnification with dental microscopes, and ultrasonic instruments are commonly used during this procedure by the specialist.

Cracked Teeth and Emergencies

________

Cracked teeth is a common dental issue that leads to severe pain and discomfort. When a tooth cracks due to large fillings, clenching or trauma, it can expose the nerves inside to the oral cavity. This can cause sensitivity, pain, and infection. Seeking emergency dental treatment is crucial to prevent further damage to the tooth or surrounding tissues.

Teeth may also be displaced or avulsed during a traumatic incident, in which they can be repositioned and splinted to preserve them in the oral cavity, followed by root canal treatment.
